Better luck next year.
Well, that just shows how awesome T is. He took my clumsy, hackneyed template, installed the new version of Movable Type on his server and made it all work just like that *snap*. While on the surface my blog might have look purty, I was learning CSS when I did this ... and I really sucked at it. It took me ages to make the site come close to my vision and, while I do love it, I knew it was far from perfect. Now? It's perfect. He did an awesome job.
I <3 my geek.
Oh, and I absolutely LOVE the new version of MT ... the admin dashboard is very sleek, easy to use and fairly user-friendly. Compared to the other blogging software I've used, this is, by far, my favorite.
I've been accused of being cryptic and maybe this is one of those times. Maybe not. I guess it all depends on if you recognize the title of this post.
If you don't, yeah, I can see why you might think I'm being cryptic. I prefer to think of it as breaking the news slowly.
If you do recognize the title, though, I get the feeling you will be singing along with me before long.
I still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild.
A million dead-end streets
And every time I thought I’d got it made,
It seemed the taste was not so sweet.
So I turned myself to face me
But I’ve never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker.
I’m much too fast to take that test ...
Oh, yes ... Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes. After 4 years of building Wordwhores and 5 years of blogging my little fingers off at Absolute Blog, it was time for a change. I started that blog and the website with the intention of giving my certain brand of insanity a forum for expression. I didn't want to be a richer (wo)man. I didn't beg for visitors or links ... I just was there. It was my home when this home got to be too much, a place for me to escape to. Strange as that may seem, I needed a place where I could see evidence that I actually existed. Wordwhores/Absolute Serenity/Absolute Blog was it.
Now I'm just gonna have to be a different (wo)man ... a prosemonkey, to be exact. Yeah, time may change me, but I can’t trace time.
If you aren't singing along by now, I'm very disappointed.
Though it seems as though I've fallen off the face of the earth (and, in truth, sometimes it feels that way from my end), I'm here. Lots of things on my mind, in my life, in my way, stopping me from writing. The biggest barrier was school but, about half a million words later, I'm done with that ... with a 96.68%, thank you very much.
I am planning a redesign here, hoping to combine my two blogs into one ... just not quite able to wrap my head around that concept yet. It makes me feel stupid, also, to just be learning CSS now at this point in my web career so, needless to say, I have about a billion questions to ask my favorite monkey. Guess I better buy stock in bananas ...
As the subtitle of this blog suggests, Prosemonkey was born so that I could blog my novel for NaNoWriMo. From the start, this place held a special place in my heart. For one thing, it was a gift from Bobo, my favorite (very cute) monkey. He did everything for me, from creating the subdomain to installing Movable Type, a publishing platform that I had never actually taken the plunge into, even though I had wanted to for years.
My first (short lived) blog was a Manila blog, then I tried Blogspot and, once I had my own domain, I decided to stay with Blogger for ease of use. I was there in the old days, the days of the Ev cam and hands on personal service. I have always been fiercely loyal to Blogger because I watched it grow as those guys poured their hearts and their wallets into it for little or no compensation. When they sold (their souls) to Google, I was filled with trepidation ... and with good reason. Can you say 'Google toolbar'? After all, Blogger had always been 'as flaky as pie crust' so how was being owned by Google going to make it any better?
I'm hoping that by posting, my template snafu will magically correct itself. The last thing I want to do is actually have to ask for help.
/for future reference, editing a template while on TheraFlu is never a good idea ...
